Northeast Film Lab Announces Slate of Screenings and Lab Projects

NORTHEAST FILMMAKERS LAB to LAUNCH 4th EDITION

The Capital Cinema Cultural Exchange, Inc. (CCCE) hosts its annual Northeast Filmmakers Lab Nov- ember 9-12th in the Capital Region and is pleased to announce it’s official line-up of screenings and lab participants. The opening night screening of AS YOU ARE features producer, Joseph Mastantuono along with other members of the 2016 Sundance Special Jury award winning cast and crew.  The screening takes place 7pm Thursday, November 9th at The Linda, 339 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206.  A 5:30pm industry mixer benefit precedes the screening with industry mentors and filmmakers.  Tickets available on-line www.cinemaexchange.org.  Doors open 30 minutes prior to screening.  Reservations are recommended. 

A sneak preview of ICE EAGLES, the documentary about the first US Navy pilot expeditions to Antartica by Tom Henderson takes place Friday, Nov. 10th, 8:30pm at Overit Media,  435 New Scotland Ave,  Albany, NY 12208.   Limited seating is available.  A curated screening of international and local short films takes place 7:30pm Sat, Nov 11th at Proctors GE Theatre, 432 State St, Schenectady, NY 12305. This year’s shorts include GHOSTS OF NEW YORK by Brad Robinson who works repeatedly with directors Dereck Cianfrance and Woody Allen.  IN THROUGH THE NIGHT and REMEMBERING THE FUTURE by Josiah Cuneo (Brooklyn);  JUST WORDS by Ilia Antonenko (Russian);  PSYCHOSIS by Dan Vantresca (Schenectady);  SCALLYWAG is an animated cartoon;  STOP THE STIGMA, the documentary of Summer Smith and her battle with drug addiction; THE STAIN, is the story of the lengthy efforts an OCD will go through to remove a blemish.

4th edition Lab Filmmakers Participants include feature film projects:  CAMPFIRE by Syracuse based filmmaker Stephen Long; THE HAWK, the untold story of Ben Hogan, produced by John Bradley. HELL’s ACRES, the original boxing epic tale by Rich Rosenzweig;  LAS MINAS DE ALTAR (The Mines of Altar) by Mexican filmmaker, Jon Ayon; and TERMINUS ALARM, the apocalyptic story by husband and wife filmmaking duo Tracy and Jon Cring.

One new documentary, ON TO THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY, by Western Mass filmmaker Howard Garbarsky and short films; THE COMMON REACTOR by Steve Cifarelli and READY OR NOT by John Romeo round out the new additions.

BENEDICT ARNOLD: HERO BETRAYED by Tom Mercer; THE GOOD MIND by Gwendolyn Cates; VOO DOO MaCBETH by Susan Robbins and SCARED TO DEBT: America’s Student Loan Scam by Mike Camoin; LOOSE WIRE:  The Man Who Connected A Community by Carol Swyer; WE ARE UNARMED by Gwendolen Cates.  All will each be presenting their latest works at various stages of development at this year’s lab.

Established in 2014, the Capital Cinema Cultural Exchange is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit that empowers emerging filmmakers to complete and present their projects in a rapidly changing media landscape by leveraging world-class industry expertise through a lab process. Through interaction with audiences, industry experts and peers, filmmakers can acquire a greater understanding of the language and best practices needed to navigate the creative and business paths from development to marketing, from

financing to completion.
